Synchromysticism

" Synchromysticism:
The art of realizing meaningful coincidence in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance."

Why I Think 2016 Has Been a MENtal Year

Synchromysticism is the drawing of connections in modern culture (movies, music lyrics, historical happenings and esoteric knowledge); and finding connections that could be coming from the "collective unconscious mind"; and finding connections between occult knowledge (i.e. esoteric fraternities, cults and secret rituals), politics and mass media.
The opening shot from the movie 'Mental',
 flying over
Mt. Warning
I have already written a post about the movie 'Mental' resonating with the tragedy of an American tourist who was struck by lightning while camping on top of Mt. Warning this year -
Does Synchromysticism Sound 'Mental' to You?
Riders on the Storm?
That news story was the main reason the movie 'Mental' and 2016 came together in my mind, but there were other synchromystic pieces in the movie that also resonated with the year 2016 for me.
'Mental' is about, "a charismatic, crazy hothead who transforms a family's life when she becomes the nanny of five girls whose mother has cracked from her husband's political ambitions and his infidelity."
Some movies really hit home on a synchromystic level in one particular year, and I think that 'Mental' really hit home on a synchromystic level in 2016, and the first three letters in the movie's title is a big clue why with the setback of a woman not being elected President of The United States when it looked in the bag for her.
2016 seemed to be a year where the feminine spirit was Trumped by a truly mental result.
'Mental' is a movie about a misogynistic politician whose only real goal is to win the upcoming election, but the females in his life are driving him crazy, as he doesn't understand them, or care to, until he realizes he could lose the election because of their rebellion against him.
There may even be a reference to PizzaGate, if that above line from the movie is anything to go by;-)
There may even be a synchromystic wink to the scary clown sighting phenomena that really hit the headlines in 2016.
There was even a theme park tragedy in 2016 where four people died on a flume ride at Dreamworld, which was just up the road from the theme park this movie was filmed at.
But my favourite piece of synchromysticism in this film aligning with the year 2016 was the shark theme throughout the movie and the fact that my favourite football team the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks won their first ever NRL grand final by beating the Melbourne Storm
The joke about the Cronulla supporters having a better chance of seeing Harold Holt come back out of the ocean than winning a grand final has finally been laid to rest in 2016, to my relief.
And Harold Holt disappeared on the morning of Sunday 17 December 1967, not the 23rd of June like the movie states, but oddly enough 1967 was the year that the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks entered the NRL competition, as well.
And another resonating coincidence in the movie is that Shaz has her hand on a stuffed monkey when she first meets Coral and 2016 is the Year of the Monkey.
Then again...
or a Shark supporter;-)

  1. You shared nailed the trump part of 2016. ):

I'm returning to watch these clips for clues as to the underlying theme of a trump win, which he really didn't win, since clinton got nearly 3 million popular votes. My choice was Bernie, another mysterious piece of the synchro puzzle.

But hey, mercury turns retro the day the electors meet to cast their votes. In 200-, mercury the trickster turned direct on election night and look at the havoc THAT caused, straight the supreme court. So, we'll see. The trickster is alive and well!

  2. Returning to watch those clips for clues as to the underlying theme of a trump win, probably won't shed much light on Trump's win, as far as the movie goes, as they are just interviews with the filmmaker and the reasons behind why he made it.
I was in the third row, right in front of PJ Hogan in the last two videos of Q&A, which was after the screening of the movie in a Brisbane cinema.
I had won tickets to the screening.
The Trump themes in the movie and the year 2016...to me anyway...are how the misogynist character Barry Moochmore is concerned about winning an upcoming election at all costs and his attitude to the women in his life.
2016 really did seem to highlight the lack of feminine understanding in the mainstream media circus when Trump opened his mouth to stick his foot in it when it came to the women in his life, not to mention his political opponent who most people thought was going to Trump him in this election. But the feminine ambitions for 2016 came to a disappointing end with such a MENtal result, with a lot of the planet questioning the sanity of Americans putting such a man in the oval office. Not that I thought Hillary would have been a much better choice either, just perhaps a saner choice between two bad choices. I think the world is in for a crazy ride with Trump in the driver's seat of the most powerful nation on the planet. Time to buckle the f#ck up and hold on I reckon.
