Synchromysticism

" Synchromysticism:
The art of realizing meaningful coincidence in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance."

The Siren Song, Cults, Sam Harris, Gods and Years Ending in 7?

I just love synchronicity (can you tell?)because whether people who are into "spirituality" think it's cosmic coincidence or people of the atheist/skeptical bent think it's all just coincidence doesn't really matter, because surely neither side can't help but let a WTF(?) fly through their thoughts when the so-called random events of life intersect in seemingly meaningful ways.
At the beginning of the year Christopher Knowles wrote a post called -
The Present Can Only Be Viewed from the Past
where he wrote -
"2017 might seem like the hangover after a particularly-nasty meth, glue and Thunderbird bender, but it's actually a year of major anniversaries."
Chris writes in that post about the many significant anniversaries coming up in 2017, including the 20th anniversary of the Heaven's Gate cult suicides.
Notice the pattern on Sandie's dress
 in the video above?-)
You could say that dress of Sandie's (twin) peaks my interest
That post at The Secret Sun blog inspired my posts of looking into significant events that have influenced us in those years ending in seven and having anniversaries in 2017.
I began with the year 1967 -
1967: The Present Can Only Be Viewed from the Past?
Sam Harris and 'Is Life Actually Worth Living?'
I've been working my way through Sam's podcasts and this morning I was up to #7 -
Through the Eyes of a Cult
Which was about the Heaven's Gate cult suicides.
But what really made my jaw drop while listening to Sam's podcast was at the 5-minute mark where Sam mentions hearing on a news broadcast at the time how the cult had nothing but quart after quart of Starbucks Java Chip Ice Cream in their fridges.
And then at the 25th minute of that same podcast Sam mentions how the men castrated themselves so "they could best resist the Siren song of their own endocrine system and forget about sexuality entirely".
Chris Knowles has also been writing a series of posts about the Siren archetype, which I have also written a series of posts about  -
Coffee and the Siren's Song
It's amazing the things we tend to filter out of our conscious waking lives, don't you think?-)
Oh, and I should point out after reading Chris Knowles current post that Sam Harris was born on 4/9/1967 -
Beauty and the Beast (of Revelation), Part 3: Hymn of the Pearls
Ask Me Anything #1
"In this episode of the Waking Up Podcast, Sam Harris talks about atheism, artificial intelligence, rape, public speaking, meditation, consciousness, free will, intellectual honesty, and other topics."
Oh, and it's also the 40th anniversary this year of the movie 'Demon Seed', which was released in 1977 on the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
"Susan Harris is alone in the house when, suddenly, doors lock, windows slam shut and the phone stops working.
Susan is trapped by an intruder - but this is no ordinary thug.
Instead, the intruder is a computer named Proteus, an artificial brain that has learned to reason
And to terrorize.
In "one of her finest, most vulnerable performances" (Danny Peary, Guide for the Film Fanatic), Julie Christie plays Susan [Harris] in this taut techno-thriller based on the Dean Koontz novel. Packed with suspense, surprise and special effects, Demon Seed follows Susan's desperate attempts to outmaneuver and out-think her captor.
Then Susan learns what Proteus wants: its own child, conceived in her womb and destined for domination."
